The Team
The Financial Operations and Controlling team is responsible for overseeing consolidation and accounting, financial controlling, and statutory compliance and tax activities. The team ensures the accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance of financial reporting while maintaining efficient and effective accounting operations. As a key member of the team, this role plays an important part in supporting the region’s strategic growth and overall business success.
The Position
The Financial Controller oversees the consolidated financial reporting process for the EMEA region. The role ensures that group reporting is accurate, timely, and compliant with US GAAP, while supporting the month-end close process, audit preparation, and adherence to SOX controls. In close collaboration with the Shared Services Centre, Brand Finance, FP&A, and US Corporate Controlling teams, this position is key to ensuring reliable consolidation, supporting disclosure and reporting requirements, and maintaining strong financial governance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Support accounting, consolidation, and financial reporting processes, including preparing accounting entries and producing timely and accurate financial statements for internal and external reporting.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX controls, and audit requirements, including calculating and reporting sales and payroll provisions and other specialized accounting areas.
- Maintain balance sheet integrity across entities by performing key account reconciliations and supporting balance sheet–related projects.
- Manage and maintain consolidation systems (e.g., SAC), including mappings, data uploads, and validation to ensure accurate consolidated reporting.
- Prepare and review consolidated disclosures for quarterly and annual NYSE filings and support audit requests related to group consolidation while maintaining SOX documentation.
- Collaborate with Shared Services, Brand Finance, FP&A, and US Corporate Controlling teams to ensure consolidated results reflect accurate actuals and align with FP&A submissions.
- Identify and implement process improvements in consolidation and reporting, provide accounting guidance to European finance teams, and support documentation within the Record-to-Report function.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably within retail, supply chain, or the fashion industry.
- Accountancy qualification required (US CPA preferred); Big Four background is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with BI tools and strong knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, SAC, BW, BPC, HANA, and Tableau.
- Proactive, well-organized self-starter who can drive projects to completion and work effectively under deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex financial topics clearly and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders in a matrix organization.
- Collaborative team player with strong problem-solving abilities who fits well within a dynamic, informal company culture and can influence across teams.
