About the job

The Role 

You will lead your team towards business goals with a strong focus on performance via operational management and continuous improvement. You will perform (basic) performance analysis and report your results towards internal and external stakeholders. You will represent your team in (cross) departmental meetings/events and actively engage with Operations-, Procurement-, and Commercial-stakeholders to maximize the operational performance of the repair shop.

The Team 

You will be an active member of the operations team at Schiphol. You will report to the Manager MRO, and work closely with other department leaders in pursuit of operational excellence. You will lead a cross functional team covering both direct support functions (Shop Floor Control, Process Engineering, Purchasing) as well as 15 - 20 highly skilled technicians.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Cultivating a strong safety culture, committed to continuous improvement in health and safety;
  • Ensure that technicians can meet business unit goals and metrics;
  • Partner with cross functional teams to drive performance;
  • Maintain constant communication to ensure alignment;
  • Develop, achieve and maintain scorecard KPI’s;
  • Presents results to leadership in sessions;
  • Contribute by articulating your department’s operational needs;
  • Actively engage with engineering to develop and implement of new capabilities/technologies.

Experience & Qualifications 

  • BSc (HBO) in Aerospace -or- Mechanical Engineering;
  • At least 8 years of prior relevant experience;
  • General understanding of MRO operations;
  • Customer centric with strong communication skills in English and Dutch;
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, with the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities;
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and requirements, relevant to the MRO operations;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Aircraft and Component Maintenance Manuals;
  • Ability to effectively articulate operational needs to leadership;
  • Excellent analytical skills and are proficient in using MS Excel and MS PowerPoint;
  • IPMA-D (desirable);
  • Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt (desirable).
